Right now there are hardly any and they start moaning about chase uniques Id much rather have to make a choice from several ok playstyles than to have one clear best option and the mehs and whatevers noone cares As long as it is possible - it will be the only option. Making facetanking barely possible is the way to actually increasing build diversity. Problem is: as long as facetanking is possible, standoff and cautious gameplay wont be an option. And leech is the primary candidate for tweaks. Most of current poe dumb bits can be solved with toning down the clear speed by making the game harder. Leech is ofc stronger but i do not really think game needs it. Some bosses are bonkers but most of the endgame o es are just mechanicalĭodge and evasion and their spell variants are very very powerful tools The damage you say is there i really cannot spot. It feels just fine if i do not space out out of sleep depravation. I have a 5klife 5k ES melee hybrid that uses no leech whatosever.

ES is much smoother to play nowadays: faster start of recharge on tree and jewels, easier % regen and most importantly unaffected by burning ground pantheon The state of the game, the state of the opposition has changed. But back in 2.0 ascendancies didn't feel necessary either. Hell, it didn't feel like bows needed leech either. I never used to use leech with ES, I used to spec for good recharge (pre-ascendancy era, so no occultist), but that's a thing of the past now, because avoiding damage long enough to recharge is hilariously impractical and in some places outright impossible.īack in 2.0? Yeah, it didn't really feel like spells needed leech. You pretty much WILL get chipped down unless you've got proxies like totems or minions to draw aggro, and flasks can only handle so much of that, especially against bosses.įrankly that's part of the reason I can't even stand ES anymore. There's incoming damage flying around everywhere now, much more so than in the past, and not the kind of damage you can dance around and manually avoid. But we're in an extremely different landscape now than we were heading into 2.0. I'm aware that spell leech was tested in the past. Currently the leech jewel affixes aren't particularly notable (since phys damage leeched as life/mana is everywhere already), and with jewel affixes being limited real estate it'd provide a nice opportunity cost for getting that leech.

I'm not saying I want all accesses to leech to be equal or that attacks and spells should be treated exactly the same, but a little something to offer reasonable non-attack leech without the aid of uniques or ascendancies would be nice (and it would stop casters from feeling shoehorned into being zerker or pathfinder-vinktar), and I figure jewel affixes would be a good place to go with it. First of all, let me preface this by saying I'm under the assumption that VP and instant leech will get severely nerfed if not eliminated in 3.1.Īnd with that assumption in mind, it doesn't seem unreasonable to allow non-attackers some place to get a respectable amount of life/mana leech, but right now all they've really got is using warlord's mark (which is rubbish against bosses due to their curse resistance), going berserker (which is largely what we've seen in harbinger sc), or using vinktar if possible.Īnd with the state of the game being what it is, with all the bullet hells and swarms-of-enemies style league mechs and such, leech is getting to be more necessary to get by whether you're an attacker or a caster it seems kinda arbitrary that attackers have much better access to leech.
